The artist Andy Thomas recently shared an experimental mix of different new sounds entitled Synthetic Nature. To illustrate its sounds, he imaged strange organic forms suspended, digital and moving that react to sound. The different frequency tones cause the variable behavior of the sculpture and it is BEAUTIFUL !!!

Happy Sunday 🙂

I have been very lucky to be raised in a forest in France (don’t imagine I was in a jungle either, I still went to school and interacted with people 😉 but having lived as adult in few cities and since 8 years now London, I know how important it is to stay connected with the wild, the nature as much as we can. It is incredibly soothing to be surrounded by greeneries, breath fully the fresh air, listen the calm sounds of the nature, feel the strength of the earth under your barefoot, watch the magnificent sky day or night… it may seems simple pleasures or moment, but I can assure you this is highly beneficial for your inner self. Even at work, studies show that having lots of plants in an office decrease stress and have an impact on employees’ mood.  This is why, the architecture of Friedensreich Hundertwasser is highly remarkable. He loved the nature, and believes the human needed to live in total harmony with it without subduing or dominate it. This is why he is probably one of the very few (if not the only one!) to reject the symmetry, the straight line which were for him ‘godless’.

He tried to create a symbiosis of the nature with the architecture, building around trees, undulating floor, windows, with splash of the spectral colors. The results may seem chaotic, unconventional but he was a true precursor for incorporating ecological commitment in architecture.   Even if the climate convention taking place in Paris right now won’t certainly be very conclusive (as usual!) it is good to see that more and more architects (and the public in general) are taking the environment into consideration such as Paul Cremoux. One of his last examples is the Casa Nirau in Mexico City. He uses plants to moderate its own internal temperature, the rainwater is recycled, windows are large and facing south to benefit of the heating by the sun… Visually, this is also beautiful, the lines are pure (lots of straight lines there! 😉 plus it produces almost all its own water and energy!  (pictures from http://inhabitat.com/)

Yes. I had the immense pleasure to spend few days there with a very good friend and even if nothing was planned (as usual!) we enjoyed this city A LOT!

The architecture is beautiful, their cafes really lovely (big love for the café Braunerhof, in Stallburggasse 2, 1010!), Museum quarter well organised, cute Christmas markets,… but my real crushes were the lovely boutiques Burggasse 24 (Burggasse 24, 1070, Wien) and shops nearby in the very cool neighbourhood of Neubau, Laimgrube along with the stunning Austrian National Library which is truly one of the most magnificent library in the world (deserving a future article by itself!). Another point, which made the city so special: the people ! Except few exceptions, they were all friendly and always keen on a chat.

My pictures below are not doing the place justice (and I realised now I should have taken more pictures!!), but I hope it may give you an overview.

The music is from the talented Crazy Sonic (another friendly Vienneseman), met at the rooftop of the trendy 25hours Hotel … 🙂
