Ridiculous politics…

Just reading this article from the guardian about Rome officials who covered several sculptures to welcome the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, and I’m quite angry about it. I mean.. This is so ridiculous!

I don’t know what annoys me most : the refusal to see the nakedness of sculptures (therefore not real people, but just more or less idealised bodies in bronze or marble usually), or the fact it could be an anticipation of the Italian government in order to please the Iranian president (and gain more contracts). Either, it doesn’t excuse Rome for covering art!

The human body is simply us and beautiful in its many forms, refusing to see/show it (and even more as a simple sculpture!), is like denying ourself: this is nonsense!

I like Maxwell Snow…

I’ll admit, I discover this artist by faffing on Internet… and while I was looking for more information about him online, I get a little bit confused as I wasn’t sure if this Maxwell was a fashion designer, photograph, same as Max Snow, same person seated next to an Olsen girl (?), brother of Dash Snow (?)

Truth is, I don’t care about that much: I usually like the pictures with his name next to it, and this is enough for me.

I like his portraits, his black and white, the collages… It all brings you in another world, a kind of crazy one, often violent but without being shocking, and very American in my view for the light and theme chosen.

Nothing extraordinary either but still… it works!!!

London Art Fair 2016

The London Art Fair is not the Frieze and we may think our British artists/galleries may lack of originality sometimes, but it was still very pleasant to stroll along its alleys last night.

Many blanks, and other mono-colour works, (well, don’t get me wrong, I usually love them) lots of geometry/ highly graphic too, and more images of the wild, or fantastic worlds, more than usual. Sadly, I haven’t took the artists names (still learning, right!?) and below are the few of my favourites I could retrieve…

Finally, I must admit..I completely fall in love with the Night’s Dream from Dan Hillier. Now a recurrent of many fairs, Hillier knows how to combine Victorian imageries with the nature, creating his own fantasy world, but this ‘queen’ in Buddha posture is truly mesmerising, much more that his other works!!

I am far to be rich, and I never thought I would buy something there. But here she was, I couldn’t stop staring at her, so… she is now mine! 🙂
